As the EPIC4 study progresses, we may need to collect additional data or samples, or to plan new analyses on samples and data we have already collected. Below is a description of the substudies
Pilot Study on Biomarkers of Disease Activity
The objective of the pilot study is to discover novel host proteins (“biomarkers”) that are associated with HIV-1 disease activity, among children with vertically acquired HIV-1 infection. Biomarkers from blood samples taken over a period of improving virologic control and/or over a period of disease progression may provide clues to pathogenesis in HIV-1 infection. This study will be done in collaboration with the CIHR Team on Cellular Aging and HIV Comorbidities in Women and Children (CARMA) study.
